Resolution on Weapons Manufacturing
Anti-War Action Network, 2026
ㅤ
- WHEREAS, the United States accounts for approximately ⅓ of global military spending—more than the next 6 countries combined as of 2025—with at least 750 known military bases around the world;
- ↳ members of the U.S. Congress, their spouses, and their dependent children are legally allowed to own stocks in companies with defense contracts, even when their committee assignments give them insider knowledge about military operations, contributing to government warmongering, corruption, and insider trading;
- ↳ the Pentagon consumes more than half of the U.S. discretionary budget each year—money that is much needed to improve people’s lives—and has never passed an audit;
- ↳ the U.S. Department of War awarded $460 billion to private corporations in contracts in 2024;
- ↳ war profiteers like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, General Dynamics, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman receive ⅓ of the Pentagon’s budget each year;
- ↳ these top 5 war profiteers made over $300 billion in total revenue in 2024;
- ↳ the State Department spent $660 million restocking Israel’s arsenal of 1,000 pound MK-80 series bombs, and the Paligen Technologies factory in Garland, TX, a subsidiary of Turkish-based Repkon, was the sole producer of that order;
- ↳ Raytheon Applied Signals Technology provides battlefield visualization, surveillance, and electronic capabilities to the U.S. warmongers and, in its own words, is “critical to current and future U.S. government missions”;
- ↳ Howmet Aerospace is one of over 1,700 companies needed to supply Lockheed Martin the parts required to build F-35 jets, and without each supplier, the manufacturing of the F-35 would be interrupted;
- ↳ the U.S. sells Israel its F-35s that enable the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people, with Israel flying more combat hours with the F-35 than any other country, even having its own specific model, the F-35I “Adir,” to allow for Israeli electronic warfare and weapons;
- ↳ Honeywell was awarded a contract to produce Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), the “inner ear” of missile guidance, for missiles for the Department of War, which are now being produced in Minneapolis;
- ↳ Oshkosh Defense remains involved in the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program as a subcontractor supplying components to the U.S. war machine, while continuing to produce the earlier A1 variant that the Israeli occupiers previously purchased, with the February 2026 authorization of more than 3,000 JLTV-family tactical vehicles sold to Israel and valued at $1.98 billion;
- ↳ networking groups like the Wisconsin Defense Industry Council (formed in December 2023 in the midst of the genocide against Palestine) and the Michigan Israel Business Accelerator seek more defense contracts for companies across the state, pursuing maximum profits from death and destruction;
- ↳ war profiteers like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Paligen Technologies partner with schools and local governments through programs designed to whitewash their complicity in genocide and to train the next generation of workers—for example, Paligen Technologies, the primary supplier of Israel’s bombs, partners with the Garland Chamber of Commerce and Dallas College through the local Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) program, which brings students into the bomb factory;
- ↳ U.S.-made weapons find their way into every conflict on earth, either directly or indirectly, allowing these companies to profit from the human suffering in recent places such as Iran, Occupied Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, Nigeria, Philippines, Myanmar, Venezuela, and Mexico;
- ↳ the immense investment in and profit from the weapons, logistics, and tech industries necessitates the continuation of imperialist aggression, intervention, and appropriation;
THEREFORE, the Anti-War Action Network demands that money spent on military contracts be used instead to serve urgent human needs;
THEREFORE, the Anti-War Action Network will call days of action against war profiteers;
THEREFORE, Anti-War Action Network member organizations will organize protests and educational events and continue or take up campaigns to further the work to oppose war profiteers in their communities and highlight their destructive effects around the world and at home.
