Howmet Aerospace: Cut ties with genocide

About Cut Ties with Genocide Campaign

What is Howmet?

Howmet is a manufacturing company with 39 plants across the country, including one here in Tucson, Arizona. Most of Howmet’s products are engines and wheels for commercial trucks and planes. However, 16% of Howmet’s business comes from building parts for Lockheed Martin’s F-35 fighter jets. Howmet plays a critical role in the production of these fighter jets. The company claims to contribute to the F-35 “nose-to-tail,” including the bulkheads that form the “backbone” of the aircraft. In Tucson specifically, Howmet creates the fasteners that keep the aircraft together.

What is an F-35?

The F-35 is a highly lethal stealth strike fighter jet used by the Israeli military to perpetrate its internationally-recognized genocide in Gaza. Each F-35 costs between $82 million and $102 million, and can carry up to 18,000 lbs of bombs. Sources estimate that between 75,000 to 100,000 tons of explosives have been dropped on Gaza since October 7, 2023. As of November 2025, at least 72,000 Palestinians have been massacred and 170,000 injured by Israel’s indiscriminate bombing, the overwhelming majority of them civilians. The F-35 contributes significantly to Israel’s capacity for violence against Palestinians.

What are our demands?

Howmet must cease production of materials for F-35s and cancel its contracts with Lockheed Martin. Manufacturing materials which enable the Israeli military’s violence makes Howmet complicit in the ongoing genocide of Palestinians. Because only a small portion of Howmet’s business comes from military contracts, they can easily reorient towards civilian contracts rather than continuing to support violence against Palestinians.
